It is not acceptable to cover jewelry with a band-aid or tape; jewelry must be removed. (NFHS 2:2:2) Exception: Participants may wear stick on or glued on appliqués, stickers, and rhinestones.
- Unduly long fingernails, including artificial nails, can become a safety hazard. Therefore, fingernails, including artificial nails, must be kept at a length appropriate to minimize risk for the participants. (NFHS 2:2:3)
- Participants may wear glitter on their face, hair, uniform, costume, or body as long as it readily adheres. (NFHS 2:2:6) Exception: Signs and Props with glitter do not need to be laminated.

Competition Area and Flooring
- All competitors must start within the performance area and everyone must be supporting their own weight with at least one foot on the floor.
- All-Star teams will perform on a spring floor. Scholastic and recreational teams will perform on a standard cheerleading mat. (NFHS)
Divisions
The Extreme Challenge Series and Cheer Central USA, Inc. reserves the rights to combine divisions if necessary.
Team Divisions are as follows:
- Small: 1-15
- Medium: 16-23
- Large: 24-30
- XL: 31+
There will be a $125 fee for any division changes requested by a team.
No division changes will be allowed after the order of appearance is posted.
Introductions, Spell-outs, and Organized Entrances
- Organized introductions, spell-outs, and entrances are considered part of the routine and will be timed as part of the performance.
- No spirited tumbling entrances are permitted.
- All competitors should walk onto the floor and immediately start their performance after any pre-placement of legal props.
Judging
- The Extreme Challenge Series uses highly qualified and experienced judges. Judges from across the country are selected to eliminate any bias and to ensure fair and quality judging.
Music
- Eliminate all profanity or other inappropriate language from your music.
- Music of poor quality detracts from your performance and could affect the scoring by the judges.
- Designate one representative from your group to run your music; this person must remain at the sound table throughout the entire performance.
- If you have multiple teams or Specialty Division competitors, you should designate a separate person to run the music for each performance due to potential scheduling conflicts.
- Bring two quality recorded cassette tapes or compact discs of your music to the competition.
- If using cassette tapes, use HIGH BIAS tapes and punch out the recording tabs.
- If using compact discs, always bring a cassette tape back up; home and custom burned compact discs will not play on all sound systems.
Routine Timing
- Timing will begin with the first organized movement of a cheer, sideline or dance, the first note of music, the first word of a cheer or sideline, or the building of a pyramid or stunt (i.e. the lifting of or support of another person off the ground). Timing of the performance will stop when the team captain, individual, or coach gives an ending signal. Competitors may do a spirited tumbling exit without being timed or judged.
- Each Routine should be 2 ½ minutes long. A 5 point deduction will be taken for each addition 10 seconds.
Sportsmanship
- If a CCUSA Official observes unsportsmanlike behavior from anyone (including coaches, athletes, parents, and fans), that official has the right to assess a ten (10) point penalty against the associated team, program, or Specialty Division Competitor. Multiple sportsmanship infractions can result in disqualification and disbarment from future events.
Videotaping/Photography
- Videotaping will be allowed only during your teams performance and from the Team’s spectator seating.
- Video tapes and photography from the entire competition will be available for purchase. PLEASE remember that CCUSA reserves the right to use any and all videos, photos ect. as part of our advertising for our extreme challenge series.
Scholastic and Recreation Teams will follow NFHS Rules exclusively.
All-Star Teams will follow the USASF cheerleading guidelines.
